Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the fell 0.45%, while the index declined 0.53%.

The best performers of the session on the were Tata Steel Ltd (NS:), which rose 4.22% or 16.25 points to trade at 400.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:) added 3.13% or 10.80 points to end at 358.10 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:) was up 4.08% or 895.40 points to 22753.20 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:), which fell 4.07% or 9.85 points to trade at 232.00 at the close. Infosys Ltd (NS:) declined 2.85% or 20.30 points to end at 693.20 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:) was down 2.18% or 37.55 points to 1682.75.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) which rose 3.74% to 399.60, NTPC Ltd (BO:) which was up 2.35% to settle at 117.80 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:) which gained 2.27% to close at 142.15.

The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.89% to 693.15 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which lost 2.20% to settle at 2070.55 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) which was down 2.14% to 1682.95 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 813 to 730 and 87 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1262 fell and 1175 advanced, while 174 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.68% to 14.8725 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.47% or 6.95 to $1470.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.41% or 0.24 to hit $58.34 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.14% or 0.09 to trade at $63.88 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.02% to 71.755, while EUR/INR rose 0.05% to 79.3650.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 97.910.
