Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sydney, the gained 0.36%.

The best performers of the session on the were Carsales.Com Ltd (ASX:), which rose 3.98% or 0.640 points to trade at 16.740 at the close. Meanwhile, Beach Energy Ltd (ASX:) added 3.75% or 0.090 points to end at 2.490 and Avita Medical (ASX:) was up 3.42% or 0.020 points to 0.605 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Boral Ltd. (ASX:), which fell 6.30% or 0.310 points to trade at 4.610 at the close. Pro Medicus Ltd (ASX:) declined 5.25% or 1.290 points to end at 23.270 and Resolute Mining Ltd (ASX:) was down 3.97% or 0.050 points to 1.210.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 546 to 530 and 336 ended unchanged.

Shares in Carsales.Com Ltd (ASX:) rose to all time highs; rising 3.98% or 0.640 to 16.740.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 4.07% to 12.412.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.39% or 5.75 to $1477.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $58.39 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.14% or 0.09 to trade at $63.30 a barrel.

AUD/USD was up 0.17% to 0.6845, while AUD/JPY rose 0.13% to 74.41.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 97.355.
