Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the fell 0.39%, while the index lost 0.44%.

The best performers of the session on the were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:), which rose 3.02% or 1.50 points to trade at 51.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Cipla Ltd. (NS:) added 2.00% or 9.35 points to end at 478.70 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:) was up 1.32% or 19.70 points to 1521.85 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:), which fell 2.72% or 13.40 points to trade at 477.80 at the close. HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:) declined 1.74% or 9.95 points to end at 560.55 and Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:) was down 1.71% or 26.90 points to 1546.45.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:) which rose 3.12% to 51.20, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was up 1.69% to settle at 1521.35 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:) which gained 0.76% to close at 125.60.

The worst performers were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.88% to 560.60 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.59% to settle at 1545.95 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.00% to 1289.30 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 867 to 677 and 82 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1291 fell and 1088 advanced, while 162 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.78% to 11.6250 a new 52-week low.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.42% or 6.25 to $1494.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.15% or 0.09 to hit $60.61 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.24% or 0.16 to trade at $66.55 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.06% to 71.255, while EUR/INR fell 0.06% to 78.8970.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 97.380.
