France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 8.39%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 8.39%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 8.35%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Safran SA (PA:SAF), which rose 20.93% or 11.94 points to trade at 68.98 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 18.56% or 1.34 points to end at 8.54 and AXA SA (PA:AXAF) was up 17.56% or 2.36 points to 15.81 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Danone SA (PA:DANO), which fell 1.65% or 0.92 points to trade at 54.92 at the close. Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) added 1.78% or 0.98 points to end at 55.98 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was up 2.29% or 1.48 points to 66.00.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were CNP Assurances SA (PA:CNPP) which rose 22.34% to 8.27, Safran SA (PA:SAF) which was up 20.93% to settle at 68.98 and SCOR SE (PA:SCOR) which gained 19.82% to close at 23.12.

The worst performers were Lagardere SCA (PA:LAGA) which was down 2.24% to 8.71 in late trade, Verallia (PA:VRLA) which lost 2.09% to settle at 23.01 and Iliad (PA:ILD) which was down 1.69% to 116.50 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 483 to 108 and 60 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 13.79% to 46.06.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 5.55% or 86.95 to $1654.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.98% or 0.23 to hit $23.13 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.11% or 0.30 to trade at $26.73 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.33% to 1.0756, while EUR/GBP fell 1.14% to 0.9175.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.93% at 102.275.
