Duke Energy Earnings, Revenue Miss in Q1

Duke Energy announced earnings per share of $1.14 on revenue of $5.95B. Analysts polled by Investing.com anticipated EPS of $1.19 on revenue of $6.34B. That with comparison to EPS of $1.24 on revenue of $6.16B in the same period a year before. Duke Energy had reported EPS of $0.91 on revenue of $6.1B in the previous quarter. Analysts are expecting EPS of $1.06 and revenue of $5.95B in the upcoming quarter.

Duke Energy shares are down 10% from the beginning of the year , still down 21.32% from its 52 week high of $103.79 set on February 24. They are broadly in line with the S&P 500 which is down 9.69% year to date.

Duke Energy’s report follows an earnings beat by NextEra Energy on April 22, who reported EPS of $2.38 on revenue of $4.61B, compared to forecasts EPS of $2.37 on revenue of $4.64B.

Enbridge had beat expectations on Thursday with first quarter EPS of $0.59 on revenue of $9.35B, compared to forecast for EPS of $0.52 on revenue of $9.33B.
