At the close in NSE, the gained 0.28% to hit a new 3-months high, while the index added 0.19%.

The best performers of the session on the were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:), which rose 23.77% or 13.50 points to trade at 70.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:) added 10.78% or 25.35 points to end at 260.60 and State Bank Of India (NS:) was up 7.80% or 22.60 points to 312.40 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were JSW Steel Ltd (NS:), which fell 2.86% or 6.70 points to trade at 228.00 at the close. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:) declined 2.04% or 15.40 points to end at 739.00 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:) was down 2.06% or 8.00 points to 380.55.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:) which rose 24.03% to 70.45, State Bank Of India (BO:) which was up 7.69% to settle at 312.25 and Infosys Ltd (BO:) which gained 3.79% to close at 685.50.

The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.09% to 738.80 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.95% to settle at 380.50 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which was down 1.77% to 605.80 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 977 to 572 and 83 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1469 rose and 965 declined, while 136 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.27% to 16.2800.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.77% or 11.55 to $1508.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.22% or 0.12 to hit $54.94 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.12% or 0.07 to trade at $60.17 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.05% to 70.987, while EUR/INR rose 0.23% to 79.2755.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.38% at 97.067.
