At the close in NSE, the lost 0.55%, while the index lost 0.39%.

The best performers of the session on the were UPL Ltd (NS:), which rose 4.77% or 25.90 points to trade at 569.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:) added 1.62% or 75.30 points to end at 4729.60 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:) was up 1.21% or 19.95 points to 1673.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:), which fell 7.15% or 40.70 points to trade at 528.40 at the close. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:) declined 7.15% or 17.85 points to end at 231.90 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:) was down 5.91% or 27.85 points to 443.15.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:) which rose 1.51% to 4720.30, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which was up 1.20% to settle at 2162.35 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:) which gained 1.04% to close at 1669.85.

The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which was down 7.16% to 528.05 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) which lost 5.80% to settle at 443.65 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.84% to 106.20 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1007 to 534 and 98 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1465 fell and 936 advanced, while 162 ended unchanged.

Shares in Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:) rose to all time highs; rising 1.62% or 75.30 to 4729.60. Shares in Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.51% or 70.25 to 4720.30.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.36% to 14.2100.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.25% or 3.95 to $1577.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.54% or 0.27 to hit $50.05 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.51% or 0.28 to trade at $54.19 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.27% to 71.308, while EUR/INR fell 0.27% to 78.0925.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 98.515.
