Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the gained 0.89% to hit a new all time high, while the index climbed 0.15%, and the index climbed 0.59%.

The best performers of the session on the were Continental AG O.N. (DE:), which rose 6.90% or 7.19 points to trade at 111.33 at the close. Meanwhile, Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:) added 4.13% or 2.660 points to end at 67.070 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:) was up 3.40% or 5.70 points to 173.14 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:), which fell 1.67% or 0.550 points to trade at 32.450 at the close. MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:) declined 0.93% or 2.60 points to end at 276.00 and Vonovia SE (DE:) was down 0.83% or 0.44 points to 52.30.

The top performers on the MDAX were Duerr AG (DE:) which rose 6.25% to 29.750, Siltronic AG (DE:) which was up 4.62% to settle at 101.400 and Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:) which gained 4.13% to close at 44.40.

The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:) which was down 3.04% to 230.000 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:) which lost 2.32% to settle at 65.250 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:) which was down 1.96% to 110.000 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Jenoptik AG (DE:) which rose 6.11% to 27.440, Siltronic AG (DE:) which was up 4.62% to settle at 101.400 and United Internet AG NA (DE:) which gained 3.21% to close at 31.210.

The worst performers were New Work SE (DE:) which was down 4.55% to 294.00 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:) which lost 3.04% to settle at 230.000 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:) which was down 2.32% to 65.250 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 441 to 231 and 73 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.10% or 1.50 to $1571.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.66% or 1.33 to hit $51.27 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 3.52% or 1.90 to trade at $55.91 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.0877, while EUR/GBP fell 0.42% to 0.8389.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 98.838.
