France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 4.24%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 4.24%, while the SBF 120 index lost 4.19%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Sanofi SA (PA:SASY), which fell 0.86% or 0.77 points to trade at 88.42 at the close. Meanwhile, Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) fell 1.09% or 0.21 points to end at 19.49 and Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) was down 1.24% or 1.65 points to 131.90 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which fell 9.36% or 5.03 points to trade at 48.69 at the close. Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) declined 7.78% or 1.11 points to end at 13.15 and Safran SA (PA:SAF) was down 7.39% or 6.22 points to 78.00.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Lagardere SCA (PA:LAGA) which rose 2.70% to 15.20, Iliad (PA:ILD) which was up 1.84% to settle at 138.50 and Euronext (PA:ENX) which gained 0.85% to close at 77.25.

The worst performers were TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which was down 9.92% to 7.19 in late trade, WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) which lost 9.36% to settle at 48.69 and Klepierre SA (PA:LOIM) which was down 8.97% to 16.80 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 456 to 136 and 67 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 15.64% to 37.06.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.76% or 12.90 to $1713.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.07% or 0.41 to hit $20.19 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.06% or 0.28 to trade at $26.72 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.78% to 1.0897, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.8768.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.54% at 99.632.
