France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 1.17%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.17%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 1.14%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN), which rose 4.25% or 1.04 points to trade at 25.54 at the close. Meanwhile, BNP Paribas SA (EPA:BNPP) added 4.16% or 2.08 points to end at 52.12 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 4.11% or 1.13 points to 28.52 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Vinci SA (EPA:SGEF), which fell 1.21% or 1.10 points to trade at 89.86 at the close. Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) declined 0.63% or 0.54 points to end at 84.96 and Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP) was down 0.29% or 0.16 points to 54.44.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Rubis SCA (EPA:RUBF) which rose 5.01% to 27.65, Derichebourg (EPA:DBG) which was up 4.99% to settle at 8.00 and Eramet SA (EPA:ERMT) which gained 4.58% to close at 141.70.

The worst performers were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was down 4.38% to 11.36 in late trade, Euronext (EPA:ENX) which lost 1.61% to settle at 75.74 and Vinci SA (EPA:SGEF) which was down 1.21% to 89.86 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 344 to 215 and 88 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.36% or 6.59 to $1,848.69 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.35% or 0.39 to hit $109.89 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.07% or 0.08 to trade at $110.07 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 1.11% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.49% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.93% at 102.21.
