Australia stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 down 0.09%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 lost 0.09%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Pointsbet Holdings Ltd (ASX:PBH), which rose 9.96% or 0.13 points to trade at 1.44 at the close. Meanwhile, Ramelius Resources Ltd (ASX:RMS) added 6.70% or 0.06 points to end at 0.95 and Resolute Mining Ltd (ASX:RSG) was up 6.12% or 0.02 points to 0.26 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Link Administration Holdings Ltd (ASX:LNK), which fell 5.68% or 0.13 points to trade at 2.16 at the close. Polynovo Ltd (ASX:PNV) declined 5.28% or 0.13 points to end at 2.33 and Omni Bridgeway Ltd (ASX:OBL) was down 4.95% or 0.15 points to 2.88.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 671 to 608 and 367 ended unchanged.

Shares in Omni Bridgeway Ltd (ASX:OBL) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.95% or 0.15 to 2.88.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 4.72% to 12.22.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.23% or 4.20 to $1,840.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.73% or 0.56 to hit $77.61 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.70% or 0.58 to trade at $84.03 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.48% to 0.68, while AUD/JPY rose 0.52% to 92.12.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 104.60.
