Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.99%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.99%, while the MDAX index lost 0.40%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.28%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn), which rose 1.67% or 3.90 points to trade at 237.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (ETR:SY1G) added 1.46% or 1.34 points to end at 93.42 and Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) was up 1.34% or 0.65 points to 49.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n), which fell 37.34% or 8.73 points to trade at 14.65 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) declined 5.92% or 0.61 points to end at 9.62 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) was down 3.85% or 1.43 points to 35.71.

The top performers on the MDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which rose 16.50% to 102.00, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was up 4.22% to settle at 21.25 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) which gained 3.22% to close at 44.84.

The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 5.85% to 10.55 in late trade, HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which lost 5.52% to settle at 20.52 and Fraport AG (ETR:FRAG) which was down 4.37% to 47.50 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which rose 16.50% to 102.00, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was up 4.22% to settle at 21.25 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which gained 1.84% to close at 2.60.

The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 5.85% to 10.55 in late trade, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) which lost 3.85% to settle at 35.71 and Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which was down 3.45% to 68.65 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 393 to 258 and 95 ended unchanged.

Shares in Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.34% or 0.65 to 49.00.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.48% to 15.40.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.35% or 6.75 to $1,930.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.96% or 0.67 to hit $68.84 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.84% or 0.62 to trade at $73.52 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.58% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.27% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.52% at 102.52.
