This is the first new special crash investigation open since March when the NHTSA said it was opening a new special investigation into a February fatal crash in California involving a Tesla Model S, in which FSD was also suspected of having been used.

Since 2016, the NHTSA has initiated over 36 special crash investigations related to Tesla vehicles. These investigations specifically revolve around incidents where advanced driver assistance systems, such as FSD, were suspected of being utilized. Shockingly, these investigations have resulted in the reporting of 20 crash-related fatalities.

Shares of TSLA are down 0.19% in pre-market trading on Tuesday.
