Apple is reportedly preparing to launch a new software development tool that will use generative artificial intelligence to help automate coding work.
The new AI powered software tool is set to help simplify the coding process by auto-generating blocks of code in a manner similar to Microsoft’s Github Copilot, Bloomberg reported.
Apple has now expanded testing of its new tool which is set to launch as part of its newest version of software development package Xcode.

Shares in Apple increased less than 1% in after hours trading early Friday after advancing by 20% over the previous 12 months.
The Silicon Valley company is also exploring the use of AI to automate the tedious work required to test code.
In developing the AI driven tools, Apple is encouraging its own developers to use the software internally to ensure it works properly ahead of a wider launch.
Apple’s efforts sit in line with a wider push in the global technology industry to use generative AI tools to automate coding work with large language models used by ChatGPT.
The tech giant itself has lagged behind its main rival Microsoft in the race to develop new AI tools. The Seattle tech company launched its AI chatbot Copilot in February 2023.
Apple is, however, now planning to launch a suite of new tools including a slew of AI powered iPhone and iPad updates and new AI driven tools for its macOS operating system.
